Los Angeles Portrait Photographer

I’m Veasna, a portrait photographer based in Los Angeles specializing in engagement and proposal photography and family portraits.

Rooted in documentary sensibility and cinematic composition.

Meet your Photographer

I make photographs, small stickers to leave around Los Angeles, and time for chocolate cake.

For over fifteen years, my work has been rooted in fine art photography and close attention. I approach each session with patience, observation, and a sensitivity to how light and movement shape a moment.

When Light is the Primary Author

Light is always the beginning. I pay attention to how it enters a space, how it moves across faces and fields, and how it softens or sharpens a moment over time. I wait for light to reveal when an image is ready, then gently guide and romanticize movement so presence comes naturally. It sets the emotional temperature before anything else happens. Mood, timing, and form all glow from it. Light isn’t an accessory here; it’s the quiet structure holding the photograph together.

Where Distance Collapses

I think cinematically through proximity as much as composition. Shooting wider and stepping closer places the camera inside the scene as well as from a distance. Distortion becomes an opportunity, introducing movement and energy. In that closeness, perspective shifts, and a point of view emerges that feels immersive and as still as it is lived-in.

Found Between Gestures

A loose, improvisational approach to performance shape sessions. Direction is present, but responsive, adjusting to how a moment unfolds rather than prescribing how it should look. The space sits between intention and reaction, allowing movement, pauses, and in-between gestures to surface naturally. By not forcing an outcome, the experience stays honest to what’s actually happening.

Some couples come to prepare for the wedding day ahead. Others come simply to remember this season of their relationship. Engagement sessions hold both the excitement of what is coming and the feeling of being fully here.

Family portrait sessions are meant to be shared. Whether it’s holiday cards, birthday celebrations, or simple time spent together, these images are about holding onto the moments that pass too quickly.
